Pain in Hip :(

I started running in December an everything was fine for a while, but recently I have developed an agonising pain in my left hip. It's on the outside of my hip near the bony area of my pelvic bone. It hurts constantly and now I can't even lie on it without tears coming to my eyes. At the moment it even hurts to roll over to my right side in bed. It hurts when walking up or down stairs and even when standing from a sitting position.
When I started running I had my gait assessed and got shoes that work for me so I don't think it's the shoes causing the problem. What do you think is wrong with my hip? Could it be Hip Bursitis? It feels inflamed and swollen. :( I have a 5 mile race on Sunday and I don't think I'm going to make it.

I suppose it could be hip bursitis, but more than likely its probably a hip flexor or a high IT band issue, if its really that painful go to a sports med doctor that can diagnose it correctly and recommend stretches and exercises to help, Ive popped my hip flexor once or twice.. not a fun experience and takes a while to heal. good luck!

Thanks for the advice. After a sleepless might last night, I'm going to make an appointment with the doctor once this 4 day weekend is over.
