How do you stay under a reasonable amount of sodium?

I try to cook most of my meals fresh - semi fresh but inevitably I have to use some canned, frozen, packaged stuff every day. I am ALWAYS over on the sodium in my macros. I drink almost nothing but water so it may not be that big of a deal but I wanted to cut back and see if that helped in the weight loss effort but I have not made one single solitary day where I didn't go over on sodium. Help!!

sodium isn't that big an issue as long as you don't have issues like high blood pressure. But if you're really concerned about sodium, don't eat the regular boneless skinless chicken from the grocery store. They soak it in brine (salt water) so it actually has high sodium content. Most grocery stores carry organic chicken which is not brine soaked.
If you use canned beans, etc, rinse them before using. That removes a good amount of the listed sodium. Anything like canned kidney beans, green beans, navy beans, black beans, etc will have much lower sodium after rinsing.
I don't think I've had a day where I wasn't close to double MFP's recommended sodium level.0 -
Check my diary, on days I'm light on chicken or don't eat it, my sodium levels are super low. I still don't believe there is as much sodium in chicken breast as the site says, but I try not to get all my daily protein from it.0

most grocery store boneless skinless chicken is soaked in salt water. It's high sodium. I found this out a couple months ago. Kroger carries "organic" chicken which is not soaked in brine/salt water and the salt content is much lower. And there is a noticeable difference in taste. Sadly, salt tastes SOOOOOOOO good.0
