How much do you want to lose?

That's the million dollar question for me. I have lost 176 and am at 200. The "charts" still consider me obese & say I should weigh 145 (at 5'8 I think I would look anoerexic). My "fat" doctor has my goal at 180. My GP and my plastic surgeon have both advised me independent of one another that I need to stop losing weight. My plastic surgeon told me I have 40 plus pounds of skin that needs to be removed. You can't diet or exercise that away. The only way to get rid of it is surgery. So I'm 200. Am I done? :drinker:
First off, congrats!!! I would talk to your doctor and get an opinion from that person too. I would say if there is 40lbs of skin and you want to be around 180 and are at 200 now, then I would think I would want to get the surgery. Surgery is scary though. If and when you do have surgery, just make sure you take car of your body and let it heal COMPLETELY before any exercising, just focus on eating right b/c I hear about too many ppl getting infections and it's just sad b/c it sets ppl back a whole lot and leaves bigger scars and makes you tired and sick. But make sure you talk to your main doctor, but also other surgeons and doctors. don't just get one or two opinions good luck!!!
And I think being 160 then toning up would look great on someone who is 5'8"!0 -
Short term goal....195 by May 19, currently 207. Date not specific to an event.
Long term goal.....182. End of my weight loss journey totaling 60lbs and, oddly enough, the beginning of a bulk cycle.

I want to reach a total loss of 61 pounds by summer- any time in summer is fine, thanks. Technically it starts June 4 for me, as I'm a teacher, but July 4 is an acceptable end date for this venture as well.0

I am almost to my original goal but it was never really about a particular weight for me. I just wanted to around 12% body fat. The closer I get to 170 I am realizing that I may not make it to the 12% mark by that weight. Trying to decide if I keep going or stick to the original plan to start putting on muscle once I reached 170.
With summer on the way I might give the cutting a while longer.0 -
I've already lost 17.5kg (38.5lbs) to date and plan on losing roughly that amount more. No goal date set as I want to make sure once it's off, it stays off!0

I'd be happy if I lost it by the end of the year, though. I'd rather do it the right way and keep it off then be in a big hurry and hurt myself in the long term. :-)0 -

High Weight was 265, start weight on here 245, goal weight 155. It will take the time it takes. I do not want to set a time goal. I also have set my interim goals 10% down. Current goat 200 lbs.. the next will be 180, then 162 ... final weight will come after that! It makes my large goal seem more attainable.0

The highest I've ever had was 78kg, I am now at 68 kg and I wanna go to less than 60kg (what I had before starting the uni).0

I was losing 54lbs in total, which is another 34lbs to go. Started in November 2010 and my goal is September 2015.0

Starting weight was 560 lbs. and I am currently @ 255 lbs. The skin surgeon wanted me at 260 lbs. for surgery (planning surgery for June, he is thinking 25 lbs. to be removed) so I am still losing a pound a week right now so I am going to continue to lose if my body gives it up til June then surgery... So after surgery and a couple more months I am guesstimating my goal weight will be 225 ish give or take and on my frame that will be darn near perfect from where I started....0

I want to get down to 155lbs. Got about 50lbs to go but I had already lost 42lbs when I found MFP. I want to be my target weight by October but if it takes longer so be it I'm just happy to be losing the Fat that's been obvertaking my life :@)0
