I went to see a Ayurvedic Practitioner 2 weeks ago. So far I am having a good experience with Ayurvedic.

I found out that I'm almost tri-doshic, which is rare. My Vata and Pitta were slightly higher. She told me that my Vata is out of balance. This would explain my dry skin and hair loss.

How she found my dosha? We went through a questionaire. She took a look at my skin and hair. Took my pulse. She said there are 2 layers of pulse. Looked at my tongue and eyes. Asked me about my current eating habits as well as past. Asked me about my digestion.

I saw her again today to get her full recommendations.

Her initial recommendations (From 2 weeks ago): Drink a cup of warm water with lemon in the morning, Oatmeal for breakfast, Banana for snack, Lunch sauteed or steamed veggies or soup, Banana for snack, Dinner sauteed or steamed veggies or soup. Told me to avoid cold foods and salads. Before I go to bed I should eat a handful of raisins. I should also drink ginger tea during the day. She told me to heat pure sesame oil and massage into my skin.

Results of initial recommendations: My skin is less dry and not losing as much hair. I'm able to go to the bathroom everyday. I also lost 10lbs of bloat. I have more energy through out my day.

Full Recommendations (From today): Continue with the drinking a cup of warm water with lemon in the morning. Oatmeal for breakfast between 7-8am. Eat banana 1-2 hours later. Lunch sauteed or steamed veggies, soup, rice, stews at 12-1pm. Banana for snack 1-2 hours later. Dinner is the same as lunch, but smaller. A handful of raisens soaked in water before bed. Once a week do a fast in the middle of the day, so juicing or broth. At night she wants me to put coconut oil in my hair and keep massaging skin with sesame oil.

Exercise recommendation: 30 minute walk everyday, yoga and zumba once a week.

Foods to avoid: Spicy Foods, fermented foods, pickled foods, cold food or drinks, fried food, ice cream, barley, bread, cold dry cereal, sweets, dried fruit, frozen food, raw onion, mushrooms, eggplant, black beans, chick peas, corn, soy beans, lamb, pork, cashews, tofu, dry flaky food.

The interesting thing is that all the foods I should avoid are foods that give me gas, bloating, and constipation. As weird as it may be, salads gave me bloating. She explained that this was happening because my digestion system was very dry.

I liked the Practitioner I went to see because she tailored the recommendations for my needs. Once those needs are met, I will need to go back to her. I'm going to give this a shot and I'll report back in a few months with further results.
