Lowering Cortisol Levels

I know that cortisol levels are related to stress levels. One of my docs told me that my cortisol levels are high and that I wouldn't really be able to loose much weight until they come down. However, she was not very helpful in explaining to me how to go about lowering my levels. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You really should be asking the doctor because he/she has your complete medical history and lab results indicating how bad your cortisol levels are.

Stress does in fact cause Cortisol to be produced by the body... if you have too much stress, then that is what you have to reduce.

Have you thought about talking with a Counselor/Psychologist?

I didn't think about the sleep. I recently found out that I have sleep apnea so I'm sure that has a lot to do with it. We're still working on the right treatment for it so I guess I need to that under control. I get plenty of exercise but I know I'm not getting enough fruits and vegetable. As far as therapy goes, I'm pretty happy for the most part. Plus I've got a great group of friends that acts as a therapy group of sorts. Thanks to all of you for your suggestions.

Even the most happiest people can have so much stress in their life that they tend to not recognize the stressors that cause a decline in their health.. I work with people right now who seek counseling because sometimes its necessary to have someone help you 'see' where you 'dont see'...
