Hey all! My man and I are trying to get out of debt by the end of the year, so needless to say, we're trying to not spend any extra money. As a result, we don't really go out very often and mostly tend to cook at home (which I love for health reasons) and get red box movies (which is nice, but gets old). Going out on a "real"date just seems so expensive, even the movies with ticket prices nowadays.

All that to say, do any of you have any good free out cheap date ideas to help get us out of the house without breaking the bank?
We do like to hike and i'm thinking a picnic might be in order, but I wanted to see of you had any creative suggestions, especially for the evening since a dinner/movie or bar outing its all I can think of! Not only are those expensive, but I hate having all those calories too!

I really appreciate it!

Go stargazing. Hit up a coffee shop first for something warm to take with you.

Also look online for community calendars that could have cool events, like festivals, outdoor movies, ect.

Have you heard of geocaching before? http://www.geocaching.com/ It is a fun, scavenger hunt past time that is done by millions of people across the globe. There are caches hidden all over the place - I guarantee that you walk by one or two a day and don't even know it!

You use GPS coordinates - I downloaded the app for my iPhone but any GPS device that tells you the coordinates will work - and follow clues and hints to find the cache. Cache sizes range from super tiny (a piece of paper that you sign) to larger boxes where you can leave a cheap little trinket and take a cheap little trinket. It's a neat way to get out and explore new areas. We like to do it on vacation because it always takes us to areas that we never would have found on our own.

Also, we like to go frisbee/disc golfing. After the initial investment of a disc, it's free and a workout hiking around! Not sure where you are located but there are courses all over and you may be able to find some on www.pdga.com.

Make a picnic basket and drive on out somewhere you can sit on the car and watch the planes land/take off. Turn on the radio, soak in the atmosphere, take in each other and relax. It's romantic and inexpensive.

Window shopping at a cute downtown area, a walk, a picnic, a sport of some kind (volleyball, etc).

Thanks for the ideas!!! I looked up some free events in town (there are apparently a TON coming up now that the weather is nicer!) and I had TOTALLY forgotten about geocaching! Will have to check it out!

    Some I have in mind...

Get a box of sidewalk chalk and either use your driveway or go to the park...
Go to the park and play on the playground equipment and act like kids again...
    possibly mini-golf depending on cost
Might be able to find a cheap ballroom dance workshop to attend together
might be able to find a cheap cooking workshop to go to
