I'd never do a pin-up shoot. My legs are just not right for that genre of photography. However, our photography group is doing a pin-up shoot in May with vintage aircraft and military hardware. I am sure it will be a blast! I would prefer working with pin-up models to photographing T&A for the sake of skin. Just not my style. I think that implied is so much more attractive in photography. But that's just me.

By the way... on Lightroom, Cold Tone in moderation makes for that flawless doll look, IMHO.

I have tried for days, months, years to pull off a victory roll in my hair....and just can't do it!!! My arms get sore trying! My best attempt is a crappy little curl and my bandana....

When i finally get to my goal weight i was going to celebrate by getting some professional pin up shots done, some photagraphers will do your hair, make up, provide you with the clothes and take you through step by step posing. I found a cute one in chicago that will do it all for about $350

Do you put your hair in rollers first? I've found that if I put my hair in rollers and get a good curl set, the rolls come together much easier.

Love pin-up girls. I go to car shows in the summer and enjoy the ladies dress up just as much as the cars.

P.S. This thread needs more pics. : )

I <3 this style! I have a fringe that can be styled pinup. Before that, I ALWAYS rocked the pomp! I also love thick cat eyeliner and red lips, I even wore it out last night. I like it cos it's rock an' roll, but still very feminine.

I also love, what I call fat-*kitten* skirts - knee-length, and tight (the proper name has escaped me)

    I love pinup/rockabilly style. <3

I wear the makeup style almost every day, but I can never get the hair right.

I feel you! My hair has a lot of natural curl but I can never get the big rockabilly bumps/curls. I do love the makeup though, typical cat-eyes and bright lipstick. I don't wear much on my lips most of the time though because I am lazy. Cherry Dollface has a great everyday pin-up makeup tutorial on her youtube, thecherrydollface, as well as some great more dramatic looks.

I actually found a really cute blouse today at Walmart (for only $12) that I needed for an FBLA competition next week. It has a really cute, kind of everyday pin-up/retro feel, so if you're looking for affordable retro-inspired clothing, don't be afraid to look in unexpected places.

    Thanks for the tip!
Vintage aircraft and military hardware + sexy curves? What a great juxtaposition.
I love traditionally masculine aesthetics with a feminine twist.

i LOVE the pinup style! or pretty much anything from the 1950s or 60s. I do the cateye eyeliner every day (which admittedly took lots of practice, haha), and usually red lips, or some darker shade of lipstick. Dresses almost everyday, flowers in the hair, just love it.

old pic, but you get the idea :)

I totally love pin-ups, my house is wonderfully adorned with them in almost every room. I also have a passion for costumes and all costume related events/activities. My boss, who does a lot of photography on the side, has made me promise that I will do a pin-up session with her when I do finish losing the weight that I want. I can't wait, but I will want to find a salon somewhere to do my hair & what not. I figure if I'm gonna do it, I may as well do it right

Does anyone have recommendations for liquid eyeliner? Mine has kind of a long brush so it is hard to control.

I use the sonia kashuk kind that i found at target. I like it, no complaints!

I was going to mention Pin Up Girl Clothing, too! Never bought anything, but am always making a shopping list! They have a facebook page too!
There is also Queens of Vintage ( www.queensofvintage.com ) - there are lots of tutorials there and they have a facebook page too!

There is just something a little extra special about whatever pin up detail you add for the day...it gives me a skip to my step, thats for sure!

I've been wearing vintage/antique clothing since I was a pre-teen. Recently I inherited a large amount of dresses from the 30's, 40's and 50's. So beautiful and detailed.

Also, in the second pic posted by the OP, that's pretty much my everyday minimal makeup. I kind of don't really know how to do it any other way since that look is how I learned. I idolized Marilyn Monroe as a child and wanted to grow up to be her. When I started learning how to do makeup, I copied from photos of her. When I put on full makeup, it's kind of a 30's look mixed with geisha.

Just try it from old photos. It's easier than you think.

I've never been into the Bettie Page bangs though for me. I tried it but it didn't look right on my face. My ex used to call it the "goth girl mullet"

When I draw I draw a lot of pin up girls, never really gotten into the style myself being the not so closet goth that I am.

I don't, I may have to invest in a good curl set...thanks! That being said, I can hardley braid my own hair so I may be SOL!! haha

I'd love to try it...i just don't have the porcelain white skin to pull off the makeup.

A friend told me I should model for a Suicide Girl though...

My skin is very pale white but covered in freckles that don't seem to cover no matter how hard I try sometimes. I would love to be a Suicide Girl one day because they all kick *kitten*, but I'm not photogenic at all.

NSFW but it's a pinup blog I follow. Lots of makeup and hair inspiration. There's also another Tumblr for WOC pin-ups, so I'll have to find it.

I love the pin up girl look and have since high school. My 36 year old sister had decided that she is now a pin up model. She hasn't had a real job in years and now suddenly tells everyone it's her career. Her photos are pretty much just porn with really red lips and short bangs. And she told me I'm crazy. But, anyhoo, love love love that look!

I love pin up dresses! I cannot wait to feel comfortable in a pinup swimsuit. I also would like to get the makeup down as well.
