Running pain in one leg

Hey all!
After 8 weeks of regular running, over the past 2 days I've started to develop a pain in my right shin when running. It basically goes from the front of my ankle (where my shoelace is tied) to midway up my shin. I don't believe its shinsplints because a) I've had them before and this isn't the sort of thousand-needle feeling, and b) it stops when I stop running whereas shinsplints usually stick around.

Could it be something as stupid as having my shoes too tight on one foot? The left leg is fine, its only the right leg.

It just seems odd that its happening now, and not for both legs.

I hope there is someone who can help. I've been having the same problem, only in my left leg. I was an avid tennis player in high school and frequently got shin splints, so I know what you mean when you say this pain is different. Mine is almost like a painful buring. I found yesterday that when I stepped off the treadmill for a couple seconds and rubbed my shin vigorously, it helped enough for me to get through my run. Hopefully, someone will have some answers!
