Do "hot pants" really work?

Saw on tv and a groupon for hot pants that say they will take off 2 dress sizes. Has anyone tried them?

The idea that wearing pants made out of a certain type of fabric (in this case neoprene) will result in meaningful fat loss is absurd. At best, they will increase body temperature causing you to sweat more, thus reducing your water weight. This water weight should and will be replaced if you are drinking sufficient amounts of water.

For Yoga, "hot pants" make sense, because there is a demonstrated benefit to stretching hot muscles vs cold muscles. That's why people do Yoga in 110 deg f studios. Personally, I prefer to warm my muscles with a nice run or spin class before I practice Yoga, but each person has their own preference.

I have sensitive skin, so trust me, I'll be sticking with my moisture wicking workout clothes...

They make you sweat more........I read one web site that made some pretty funny claims including raising your core temperature by 18% (which according to them made your burn more calories - silly at best). Your core temp is approx 37.5C, if it goes above 40C you're probably on your way to hospital to be treated for severe heat stroke. Raising it 18% would take you to 44.25C which would probably kill you. Judge for yourself.......

I have 3 pairs of the hot pants shorts. I wore them every time I worked out for about 3 months. They don't really make you lose weight. But they def. make you sweat more. You take them off and you can feel how much you've sweat. It does make your skin a little smoother (so it would probably help with cellulite).
I haven't been wearing them recently just because its gotten hotter outside, and i tan easily and since the shorts are long (above knee) it leaves me with awkward tan lines.

Unfortunately they don't really make you lose 2 inches, but does make you sweat more..so I guess there is some effect on that on inches. But they are comfortable. I did notice though, some clothes were a little looser.

Sorry I don't have the answer you are looking for, but from personal experience, it is a good product (def. makes you sweat more, and makes skin smoother) but won't make you lose weight overnight.

    Hope that helps
