Lost 1 inch in 2 months?

I started watching my calories and exercising more probably 2 months ago now, and have been very disappointed that i haven't seemed to lose anything. So after 3 weeks i stopped weighing and measuring myself and have just gone by how i look in the mirror. I've had up and down days, sometimes going over my cals, sometimes ending up under them. And for the last week i haven't done very much exercise at all.
So today i decided to get the tape measure out, and guess what? My measurements have changed.
I started at
Waist 29 - now 28
Hips 35 - now 34
Thighs 22 - gone up to 25 lol!
Not much i know, but it gives me hope
There must be a quicker way though? 1 inch off my waist and hips in almost 2 months is a bit pathetic to say the least. I'm currently at 1,400 cals per day and eat back most of my exercise cals. I'm working on balancing my protein and carbs properly so it's not like i'm eating junk or too much/ too little.

You didn't gain all the weight at once either - stick to it and you will see results. Be honest with yourself too - sounds like you have a lot of up and down, try and follow the program as much as possible and be sure your aren't having more over/under days than days you are following. Are you weighing and measuring your food?0

Yes as much as possible. The up/ down days have only been these last couple of weeks. Until then i was pretty strict, exercising nearly every day, and eating less cals. The up and down days have happened since i realized that just wasn't working and i wasn't losing bugger all lol0
