There are lists of recommended shoes online- but the main thing you are looking for is shoes that are not "sticky" aka no running shoes. You want flat low tread bottoms that can move easily across the floor. Good shoes make a big difference in Zumba, and also can help prevent injury because Zumba is hard on the knees.0

I have cross trainers because they have lateral support whereas running shoes are more for forward action. That is all you need.0

I do Zumba at least one to two times a week. I just use regular sneakers and it's fine. I don't see how special shoes make any difference. What is important for Zumba is effort and to have fun. You will learn the steps and the coordination skills through practice. Shoes don't affect that. Go there have fun and it's amazing how great of a workout you will have!
