One chicken breast and I'm over my protein?

I just entered my lunch and I had one normal sized chicken breast and the only other thing I've had with any protein in it today was the milk in my coffee this morning and that barely counts yet according to my food diary I'm over for protein.

Can that be right?

Chicken breasts are very high in protein. If you were to look at my diary, you would see the chicken breast I had for lunch has 30g of protein.

No. You need more protein than that. Check your settings on here. MFP's protein recommendations for a lot of people is kind of low in my opinion anyways but it should definitely be higher than that.

going over on protein is not as bad as going over on fats or carbs IMO

but one breast usually 6 oz has 36 grams. Some times the database is wrong.

Don't worry about going over on protein. Many people here WANT to go over on protein.

MFP is notorious for being low on their protein recommendation. Don't worry about it! I went in and manually upped mine so that I get more of my calories from protein than carbs. I needed to do that because not only did I always go over my protein, but carbs are my worst enemy as a pre-diabetic.

You can go into yours and do it too. Go to Goals and click the manually change and you can play with your carbs/protein/fat ratio until you're satisfied that it fits your lifestyle.

Also, from the look of your profile pic, I'm betting you're at 1200 calories, so the more protein in your diet - the less hungry you will be! Just make sure to drink lots of water.

    Hope this helped.

Change your macros. If 1 chicken breast put you over on protien, they aren't set right. I do low carb so I set mine at 30/35/35 for carbs, fat and protien. MFP sets protien way tOo low even if you aren't a low carb dieter.

MFP sets protein super low. Most people set heir macros to reflect their personal needs.

It's not "way too low," it's set to the level recommended by the World Health Organization, which is more than adequate for the average human being. Much less adequate for the serious athlete.

I get a big bag of Tyson frozen breast at Sam's Club with each breast averaging 5oz uncooked. The nutritional info on the package says it 150 cals with 27g of protein.

You need to look at your macro-nutrient settings there are 3 entries - Carbs / Protein / Fat. May need to adjust it. If you were doing a 1300 cal/day meal plan and 40 / 40 / 20 macro ratios, the following table show you should be getting 130g/day of protein.

    .....................................Carbs.....Protein......Fat.....Totals
    Calories per gram.......4..............4...............9
    Macro ratios................40%.........40%........20%.....100%
    Calories ......................520...........520.........260......1,300
    Grams..........................130...........130..........29
