Cats Climbing Up Window Screen

So, I have two cats who LOVE to climb up my window screens. I live in Northern Colorado where it can reach up to over 100 degrees in the summer (basically I need to keep the windows open). How can I stop them from climbing up? I've tried the citrus spray and that doesn't deter them, I've tried aluminum foil and they could care less, and they like water so squirting them wouldn't work. What can I either make or go buy to make them stop before summer hits??

I put nail polish remover on a cotton ball and wipe it on things I don't want my cat to mess with, it works most of the time, maybe try that? :)
  • How often do you trim their nails? If you keep them trimmed fairly short, they won't be able to climb as easily. Moreso, if you use the Soft Paws nail caps, they won't be able to climb it at all (but those are a b*tch to apply). There are also products (other than citrus spray) that may deter them.

We did Paprika on the kitchen counters once...When we put it down, they wouldn't touch it. They won--it was too messy!

are you concerned because they are ripping your screens? We bought a "pet proof" screen that is a little thicker and it works really well!! My cat climbs up the screens all the time and not once have they ripped or gotten holes! And it's fairly cheap too :)

Are they fixed? If not I would do that. Otherwise clip their nails and then make the door the most unpleasant place in your house. Such as this is where the nails get clipped. That said they should get their meals and treats in a place you would rather them be.

    My suggestion...install air conditioning.

I do trim their nails and they are still able to climb up.

I do have air conditioning but it gets to be to expensive to have it on ALL day long

Where do you get petproof screens?
