My doc just told me, he wants me to increase my daily intake of protein to 4 servings of 25g each!!! I am SOO not a big meat eater. I bought 6 of the Atkins Vanilla Shakes-- NASTY!!! I went to a nutritional supplement store and the guy tried to sell me "Royal Jelly" it is a capsule that is supposedly lean protein according to him....anyone ever heard of that?

I have not but I recently tried Isopure Strawberries and Cream . The taste is tolerable and can be added with water or milk.

I enjoy Optimum Nutrition brand as it's reasonably priced, tastes good, and it's reasonable in terms of protein/kcals (24g/120 IIRC, or close to it).

But, there are a handful of brands that are in that ballpark, so to speak.

As far as quality it is kinda middle of the road, but for price and nutrient content. Premier Nutrition (costco brand) is top notch, they cost about 1/3 of the price, and taste better than many of the more popular bars. They also have a premixed shake, which is kind of nice because the calories are way down for 30g of protien. (Also Costco)

i LOVE the chocolate and vanilla warrior blends by sunwarrior. they're vegan, b/c i'm allergic to whey, but they're tasty and lo-cal. 15g protein and 84cals/serving. blend with milk of your choice or water and ice, and it's like a dessert.

I like chocolate whey protein mixed with a bit of cocoa powder -- comes out super chocolatey! I use a brand that is sweetened with stevia, so it's low in calories and still quite sweet. Yum!

Theres lots of protien powders on the market, and there all pretty comparable. But the best way to go about it is using a vannilia flavor, because you can alter that to any flavor you want! I use the different flavors of -sugar free fat free jello pudding mix- (Bannana/cheesecake/chocolate fudge, butterscotch ect.). Use about a quarter of a package in a shake and is makes it much better and creamier. Also the combinations are endless with the vanillia and you can use any fresh fruits in them. One of my favorites is scoop of vannilia protien handfull of ice, (i use water to cut down of the sugar, but milk is always better)quarter packet of sugar free cheesecake pudding mix, and some fresh blueberrys or strawberrys. Blend them up for about a minute and there ya go. Its also quite filling!

Thanks! I may try freezing it too since it seems like I'll be eating protein morning, noon, and night!
