Taking my jealousy and I'm making commitment out of it

I have been pretty much out of shape during my high school life. It's almost over, and I have been doing everything I can to finally drop down below 200 before graduation. I have ran, walked, eaten less junk than I used to eat, and even made changes to my family. But the one thing I cannot avoid is the fact that I have people at school show off their abs like crazy and to people like me who are a little bit more chubbier, I find it very insulting to me. These people at my school eat junk like no tomorrow, and they still look so good. This could be genetics, but still, I find it a miracle to see them look nice and thin and post pics of themselves showing off. This is not just a thing to make me angry about, but it has given me a great chance to convert this jealousy into a nice way to show them that I can workout just like them and be healthier. Of course it doesn't happen overnight, but I am committed to being a different person than who I am now.

That's a good way to turn a negative into a positive. Make it work for you!

If it makes you feel any better, their eating habits will catch up with them someday, just wait until your 20th high school reunion. :)

True, true. I do try to remind myself that it will get them someday, but is it wrong to wish it would happen sooner?

What a great attitude you have! Congrats on what you've been able to do so far!

I was one of those skinny girls in high school - although I was too shy ( and a nerd) to ever show it off. Flash forward 30 years and at 5'7" and 151 lbs I have a body fat % of 31.7. Those girls too, will end up like me while you are on a healthy path!

Lol. Well, maybe it's just a little wrong! But rather than fixate on them, focus on yourself. I think you'll feel better and have better success when you put all your energy into YOU. Maybe if you can't shake the way you feel about them, use those feelings when you're on the treadmill, or lifting weights, or working out to a DVD. Use it as a driving force, if needed! Good luck to you! :flowerforyou:
