I am a crap cook so I have a lot to learn. One of the items I've been wanting to learn to cook right is tofu because it's a healthy alternative to meat products.

How do you cook yours, and how do you make it taste good? What other food items do you make with it?

Here are 4 different variations to cook tofu:

    1. Microwave and add soy sauce, Chinese black vinegar, and sesame oil.

    2. Stir fry along with any veggies you like.

    3. Add it into soup/broth along with any veggies/meat/etc.

    4. My favorite tofu dish is called mapo tofu. It's basically spicy tofu sauteed with beef/pork. You can look up recipes if interested (from your post it seems like you don't want any meat dishes?). My mom makes it for me so idk her recipe :c But it's really yummy and I highly recommend it!

Also if you freeze tofu, it develops this spongy texture which I love. Just to add a little variety :P

Bump! I'm a vegetarian, non- cooker that needs to learn how.
  • Quiche Tofu
I have been learning Tofu too. I had several dishes that were not liked. One thing that turned out really good was quiche with tofu in it. I microwave a half of a bag of cauliflower. I chop the pieces smaller. Then I throw it in a pie shell with chunked tofu, eggs and cheese. Season to taste. I'm sure you could use Southwest egg beaters. Bake until firm and a knife comes out fairly clean.

I like to slice it up, then put it between 2 clean towels and press it under a heavy book or mixing bowl for an hour or 2--this squeezes out all the water so it soaks up whatever sauce you put on it.

Try marinating it in soy sauce, sesame oil and grated ginger and then grilling, broiling or baking it. You can eat it as is or put it on salads or in with a stirfry. Yummmmmm
