Getting discouraged

Hi folks,

I quit smoking January 1, 2012 and thought...what better way to stay motivated and help me along with a healthy attitude then to join a gym. So I did...and I got myself a personal trainer. I also started to see a dietician. I want to lose 50lbs. I see my personal trainer twice a week for a full hour session. I also go to the gym 2 to 3 times a week on my own for an hour to an hour and a half. I do 30 minutes of cardio and 30 minutes of core strengthening exercises and stretches. I've lost 3% body fat thus far, but have actually gained weight since joining the gym. I gained 4lbs the first month and then I gained another 4 lbs when I went to the Dominican. Since coming back at the beginning of March I've lost 8lbs since that time, but I still have another 2lbs to go to be at the weight I started at!!!

I keep a food journal and I push myself exercising...my motto is, if I'm not sweating, it's not worth it! My dietician says I'm doing great and other than slowly trying to increase my fiber, my fat, calorie, carb and protein daily intake is on track.

Is there something more I should be doing????????? Does it truly take this long (3 months) to start seeing results?

Carrie

Hi. It may take your body a lil while to adjust. Smoking actually increases your HR and makes you slightly more calories, plus it is an appetite suppressant. I gained 10 lbs when I quit. Then I had babies so I am just now (4yrs later) trying to get all the weight off.

Here my advice. Increase your water, watch sodium. If you don't have a HRM, you may want to only eat back half your calories on MFP. Start logging everything. I didnt look for your diary so i am not sure what your days look like.

Don't get discouraged... Congrats on quitting smoking! You are amazing and took a huge step for your health. If u can quit smoking, you can lose the weight :)
