A period of fasting followed by an eating window. Most people follow a 16-8 window (16 hours of fasting followed by an 8 hour eating window), but there really isn't a specific way to IF. You can do 16-8, 17-7, 18-6, and so on. Keep in mind, just because you're restricted to an 8 hour eating window, it doesn't mean you can indulge more than someone who has more frequent meals.0

Sorry love, part of a group I'm in...Fuel the Machine. It's closed so that may be why. Refers to www.leangains.com and Mark's Daily Apple.
But the basic concept is that which was already stated...16/8, 17/7....other sites give more detailed info0 -
There are lots of ways to IF, beyond just the lean gains approach. There's also Eat-Stop-Eat, where you eat at maintenance 5 days a week, and the other 2 days you just skip your normal breakfast, lunch, and snacks, and just eat a normal sized dinner. Then there's alternate day eating, where you skip eating for an entire day (eat Monday, fast Tuesday, eat Wednesday, etc.) The biggest benefits from IF seem to be in a short window between 19 and 24 hours, fasting much less than that doesn't give you the full power of fasting, and fasting longer than that doesn't do any extra good, either.0
