What makes you feel good?

Options
I have found that a lot of people unhappy with their weight are also more prone to get mired in negativity. It's known that negative thought patterns can turn into habits in our minds, causing us to see the negative before the positive, and get discouraged more easily. That's why I try to avoid negative thoughts and see things either objectively or positively.

Focusing on what makes you feel good and happy is a good way to slowly gear your brain more toward the positive. Awareness of your thought patterns will help you with staying focused on your goals and resisting discouragement. That's why I'm posting this in Motivation and Support. ;P

So if anyone else wants to try that too, here's a suggestion: post here with one or more things that make you feel good/happy. I guess my only rule would be anything self-destructive (including really unhealthy food, like deep fried pizza... lol) should be left out even if you see it as something that makes you feel good.

I'll start it off...

Bubble baths with high quality bath products
Filling a room with bright sunlight
Laying on the couch reading a good book
Being satisfied by a meal that I know is 100% healthy for me

    Excellent idea!

A walk outdoors - even for ten minutes
    Folding clean laundry ( I know....)
    A hot shower
Looking at photographs of places I've been
    Stroking my cat
    Soaking my feet
    Watching a Nature documentary

Some of mine are quite similar to yours, OP.

    - A long bath, with my favourite music.

    - Sleeping with the curtains open, so I can wake to the sun. (We don't do this, as my fiancé is a really light sleeper, but if he's not in...)

    - Sitting and watching my pet tortoise.

    - Sunbathing

    - And, since all of my others are best enjoyed in summer - sitting by the fire in my dressing gown.

    Gardening.

I always forget how much I love working on my flowers until I get back out and do it. It's outstanding exercise too.

I often forget how much I enjoy some of my favorite activities until I do them again. It's good to keep in mind when I'm feeling down and don't wanna do anything. I'm gonna tell myself, "I think that, but then when I do X, I will remember how awesome it is." =D

    Riding my bike!

I love it so much and hate driving so I am now taking my bike everywhere and driving way less! Great for my health, my wallet, and the environment. I get about an hour's worth of riding just doing errands every day and I have my two little ones with me. (if anyone is interested: www.tinyhelmetsbigbikes.com)

I LOVE the idea of fresh cut flowers! I think I might have to go find some flowers to put in my living room just for funsies.

This thread is now giving me more ideas for fun feel-good stuff I can do. =D Maybe pump some air into my bike tires and go for a ride?

I just worked out and while it was only for 30 minutes I was dripping with sweat. I felt good that I had pushed myself. Then I took a cool shower and a non-fat iced coffee from Sbux. And a really nice/cute guy took my order. :-)

Yuss! That is an ideal day IMO. When you feel good, you feel like you did your best and your body is definitely going to benefit, and you also get to treat yourself in more ways than one. Ha!

Today I squeezed in a short Tai Chi session (my first time in a year or so) before work and I feel great. I think it's going to make my whole day good. Later, I want to take a bike ride! That will be my feel-good goal for the day.
