Sugar vs. everything else

So I just started sugar busters a week ago. It's too early to see results, but besides from serious detox, I'm not sure about it. I know I've seriously cut out the amout of processed foods I'm eating and added more fruits and veggies, but I'm worried that I'm turning to other bad things. Like cheese has more fat than a few pretzles or popcorn. And we made Beaufford Stew the other day and I only ate the sasuage and some strawberries on the side because the diet says no corn (and I detest shrimp). So, corn is a carb, but sasuage (obviously) has more fat. Fat takes more energy to burn... What does everyone else think about Sugar Busters? Is sugar better than fat or fat better than sugar. Or should there be a better mixture of the two?
