Struggling

Hi my name is Alison and have joined MFP again. I am really struggling to get motivated due to my lack of results. I keep to my 1200 cals per day and although I don't do a huge amount of exercise I do walk my dog for about 40 mins every evening. I find that I either only lose 1/2 IIb or nothing at all. The result of this is I ask myself why am I bothering and then I give up. I am quite lucky in that I've never had a huge weight problem but now that I am 42 I find myself heavier that I've ever been at 148 IIbs. I work full time leaving the house at 7am and not returning until 6.45pm so I do find it difficult to fit exercise into my day and I do eat late a lot of the week. Can anyone offer me some advice? I would love to get back to 126 IIbs but this seems unachievable at the moment.

If you're exercising every day by walking the dog, then make sure you eat your exercise cals back. You may be eating too low, especailly if you only have a little to lose.
I listened to a really good podcast from Jillian Michaels, who said that if you only have "vanity" pounds to lose, (which you do), then you shouldnt have a more than 500 calorie deficit a day on your maintenance calorie allowance. So I changed my MFP settings to maintain, then made sure I was left with a 500 calorie deficit a day (no more), and then I lost about 1lb a week and reached my goal weight of 128lb.
You can do it, but when you only have a little bit to lose, then you have to do it slowly.
