I went on a 12 mile bike ride today. I felt that it was quite the accomplishment for me.

I watched DH finish his first triathalon. It was quite the motivator for me to get my butt in gear! I told him I would be in shape to do it with him next year. I sooo have my work c ut out for me. But I am going to do it. I am doing Couch 2 5K to get me running. And alternating between that and spinning/biking.
U can do it!! Sprint tri's are doable with not much training, a year is plenty of time. Once you do one you'll be hooked, much better than sitting on the sidelines! Go for it!

Thanks for the positive reinforcement. If you have any newbie suggestions for the tri let me know!

nlongenecker- you might just get hooked on triathlons=). There are some great books out there on training for tris for newbies. When I trained it was 11 workouts a week (some days are double workouts) 3 days swim, 3 days run, 3 days ride, 2 days strength training. That was leading up to the race. One doesn't need so much to build up the base.

terraskye-awesome on the bike! Once my hubby seen me do a triathlon he got hooked on the bike too. Its been wonderful to ride together.

    jessmomof3-nice ride. How'd the 1/2 marathon go?

My road bike has been in the shop for 10 days and waiting on new wheels. I've been commuting on my mountain bike. Boy is it a lot more work.

26 miles for me yesterday and today on the mountain bike with the fat knobby wheels.

    Hey Cycling Junkies!

So I'm in the process of looking for a road bike, I've mainly been looking on craig's list, does anyone know where else I could look? I'm hoping to get a used one to start to see if I like it.. maybe spend around 700 or so. Any tips would be great? I'm a runner now, but I need to do some cross training plus running is burning me out... thanks everyone!

check for local bike swaps. they are often held by bike shops where people rent booths to sell used items. also, there are some non-profits that rebuild and sell used bikes. Again, I'd check with a local bike shop.

I will have to get back to you on the full details... but its a 2007 trek bike with I wanna say Shimano components.. I don't know much about it but my dad and uncle went with me who are hard core cyclists and they said it was a really good bike so I'm pumped!!! My dad even said he wanted the wheels, I was like no they are mine! lol
