Biking

I live in the foothills of the mountains and have been doing some steady uphill climbs while riding. My question is, how should I put that in my diary. I don't ride really fast, but steady. So, I average a speed of 8 to 9 miles an hour over say 6.6 miles. So, is it 10 mile an hour biking or is it mountain biking?

P.S. Half of the areas I ride are dirt road or have more dirt than road.

I'd say mountain biking. Like hiking is harder than walking, mountain biking is harder than regular biking.

It's not mountain biking just because you're riding in hills. Mountain biking is riding in dirt, gravel, rocks, goats, and mud.

Just choose a moderate level of cycling and hope it's right. Or get a heart rate monitor.

The OP did state that at least half of it is on a dirt trail. The hiking trails near my house are multi-use, and she and I live in a similar geological area. If she's biking anything like the trails I hike, it's definitely mountain biking.

Well in any case, only a HRM will be accurate. MFP estimates are all over the place.
