Hey Guys! I just lost 50 lbs doing the 90 day challenge (see my ticker) and I am feeling great I still have 55 lbs left to lose. I've started working out, I am training for a 5k and I am playing tennis every week. Here is my problem, I feel like I could work out longer and harder if it weren't for pain in my feet. My feet muscles, on the inner sides of the bottoms start to ache so bad while working on the cardio equipment, they start throbbing. I would be able to keep going if it weren't for that. Does anyone know what this is and how to make this pain go away?

Do they hurt when you do tennis? If not, then change the type of exercising your do.

I got this question a lot when I was selling running shoes! It could all be definitely in the shoes. It could be a mild case of Plantar Fasciitis (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plantar_fasciitis). You could be walking/running on the inside or outside of your feet which could also contribute to the pain. You can do an in-home test to see how your arches are by getting 2 pieces of paper, dipping your feet in water and place them flat on the paper to see where the arches and "missed' spots are. You can also go to a store that specializes in running shoes and they can perform tests to see where kind of shoes would most benefit you. I usually recommend Asics or Mizuno running shoes! Hopefully this helped you! Good luck.

Go to a running supply store... they have a machine that you stand on and it tells you how you distribute your weight. They give you orthotics accordingly. It should help ease the pain :)

I have the exact same problem! I have it worse in one foot than the other and when I did the wet feet on paper test, it appeared that the foot with the worst pain was very flat footed, so I think that is what is causing it.

I have noticed a big improvement in the pain since I lost weight, though.

while i'm not a podiatrist, it sounds like your shoes might be something to consider. when i started wearing the right shoes, my foot and knee pain improved.

Your feet are important. Go see a podiatrist.

Ditto the orthotics suggestion. Sometimes they can really do the trick.

I have changed shoes and still nothing. I do have planters facitus (sp?) but I've had that for 2 years and it won't go away, also, that is more of pain in my heal. I have never got my feet "fitted" for the right running show as far as my arch goes. You can't do that at a regular shoe store at the mall right? Where do you go to do that?

We used to do them at ****'s Sporting Good locations. THere are stores here (in MN) called "The Running Room where that's all they do. Otherwise, perhaps use the yellow pages (old technology!) and look in there for running stores perhaps. Best of luck!

Okay, they censored the name of the sporting goods store I worked at! LOL, it's D I C K ' S Sporting Goods!

Have you tried stretching, icing and using a night splint?

I just looked it up and I found a couple. Very cool. THough I am scared to spend a lot of money on a certain shoe, and it doesn't solve the problem.

Thanks everyone! I went to a running store today and they did this whole eval on me. As it turns out I was really wearing the wrong shoes and the new shoes I bought today should help a lot. I saw on the treadmill test that I was basically turning my ankle in too much and putting more pressure on the inside of my feet....the new shows have more support there....

I definately think this will make a difference....I learned a lot there today and I am excited to continue this journey and train for a 5k as well as continue on to knock out the last 50 lbs of my weight loss.

    Thanks for your help!
