After I tore my MCL and ACL (and subsequent surgery) in football, the trainers told me to start walking (more and more each day) to get the blood flowing to the effected area. After a bit, they told me to do some light stationary biking. Hope this helps somewhat...0

Well, of course, check with your doctor first. That said, here's some ideas.
Water aerobics, or water walking. My rec center has a water walking course where you can walk with the current or against.
You look young, but get come exercise DVDs for senior citizens. Many are a sitting routine. You won't be challenged, but you will be moving a little bit.
Do you belong to a gym? Use the rowing machine.
Good luck.0 -
Shadow boxing... Put some kardashians on the tv and throw hard punches at their fake little selves... Make sure you are sitting far enough away ;-) and you can throw in some 'bob n weaves' to escape their hair tosses (gives you a decent ab workout in the process)
Good luck w recovery hope that helps!0 -
Ask your physio about what you can do while the knee recovers.
Good luck!0 -

Listen to your P.T. BUT... tell him/her that you must find a way to get cardio. Depending on what you sprained specifically, there are definitely exercises that are within bounds, but you should let your doc and therapist guide you, not us!
If you're not supposed to go into deep knee flexion, the rowing machine is out, and if you sprained the MCL or LCL (inside or outside) of your knee, water exercises may be painful in certain directions.
If you can find an arm bike, that's actually quite a good cardio workout without using your knees. Also, anything straight legged (leg raises forward, back, in, out; and calf raises , for example) should be fine as long as it's low impact.
Good luck! Hope you get better soon!
