Hey friends!
My husband & kids & I are going to Florida at the end of the month for vacation & to visit his parents. I just found out there's a 5k race on the beach right near my in law's house the weekend we will be there. I took up running (and dieting) in January and haven't seen his family since then. They know I've lost some weight & that I've been running but I'm worried that entering the race will seem like I'm rubbing it in, like they'll think, "yes kelli, we get that your in shape & like to run, enough already". I really want to do it though, I think it would be a beautiful setting for my first race. Anyone have a similar experience or advice? Thanks!!

I'd say go for it! Make it a family activity -- everyone else can walk -- they should WANT to cheer you on, in my opinion!

If they're not up for it, then maybe they can try a separate activity while you go do your first 5K for yourself -- and make it a more personal experience. Either way, I think you should go for it! Embrace the moment!!

Do it!! You may not get another opportunity to run in such a great setting. They should be happy to make signs, stand on the side lines, and cheer you on! GO FOR IT!!
