Whey protein and other supplements

Does anyone use whey protein or any other kind of supplement several times a day, or perhaps make it a good part of their diet? I keep being short calories, but I feel weird about using whey so much. Thoughts?

if I'm super low on protein, then I'll drink 2 protein shakes in a day. the only thing I have heard of watching out for was eating too much protein (powders/bars) and not drinking enough water to help process it. I read somewhere it can collect in the liver or kidneys and cause issues.
in general, I just try to aim for varied sources of protein: Shake in the morning, salmon patty for lunch or dinner, PB and whole grain crackers for a snack, tofu for lunch/dinner, maybe a protein bar.0
