Desired weight in kg = Daily Protein Amount?

I just read that the average person should base their daily protein intake on the weight in kgs they desire to be. So for e.g I am aiming for 115lbs which is 52kgs so I should be eating around 52 grams protein per day in order to lose weight. I've been shooting for way more than this, just recently finally managing to exceed 70 grams per day! I'm totally confused now :frown:

You should really eat at least 1g of protein for each lb of lean body mass you have. 52 seems like it would be too low for you.0

There is a lot of conflicting information on this. If you lift heavy, you may have seen recommendations to eat 30 pct protein. For me, that is around 165 gr per day. It is a lot. However, if I calculate 1 gr per lb. of my lean body mass, that would be a lot less (around 110).
There are articles that say that too much protein can damage your liver.
I don't have the answer for what is best, but if you google and read different articles you will be better able to make the best decision for you.

I thought it was 1g per lb of current lean body mass, or 1g per lb or goal weight0
