So I wrenched my lower back...

At my job I have to do a lot of bending at the waist while moving containers that weigh up to 50lbs. I really can't use proper form when I do this, so, unsurprisingly, my lower back is super tense and hurts.
Going from sitting to standing hurts, but keeping stationary in either position is normally pain free. Bending, which I do frequently, hurts. Twisting often leads to shouting.
The pain usually shoots down my lower back and down to my knees.
I am going to see my chiropractor mainly to have muscle stim done on my lower back.
Are there any stretches or exercises I can do to help alleviate the pain and help prevent it in the future?
Thanks for any suggestions!
Chad

I'd be scared to suggest anything for a freshly injured back. That's one to ask your chiropractor, really.0

Yeah, definitely check this with your chiropractor. I understand what you go through, I was a nurse's aid, and now a nurse, so I do a lot of bending, twisting, lifting, etc in my job. The pain shooting down, however, indicates nerve involvement, so make sure you mention that because nerve pain won't be helped with muscle stim.0

I think the only person you should asking advice from is your Chiropractor or maybe even an Orthopedic Spine specialist. When pain shoots down to your leg from your back...thats never a good thing...I had the same symptoms and I have 3 partially herniated disc's in my back that needed to be addressed by a doctor and treated with Physical Therapy & injections & time. Best of Luck, back injuries aren't fun.0

Cat and cow stretches are great for your entire spine!0

Saw my chrio (who is also a sports med specialist), and it isn't anything bad. But I am going to add some stretching to help prevent future episodes (this isn't the first time I've had this pain... just a product of work as far as we can tell). And probably see him a few more times this week.
Thanks, jplucheck, I'll definitely check those out!0 -
I have the answer to all of this,
I wrench my back badly too....
The answer is that you stretched or tore lightly your tendons and ligaments
they are white tissues and don't get much blood supply
if someone were to injec them with an irritant at the nerve core near the bone attachment
they would be stimulated into attracting collagen to thicken and repair them
its called prolotherapy and it works
I am an architectural designer and have no commissions to gain
most doctors will not tell you about this treatment because its bad for business
You're welcome0
