I need to improve my self confidence.

Hello, my name's Katie. :)

I'm at the highest weight that I've ever been, I'm 20 years old, and I'm currently dealing with some health things... the last thing I need to deal with is feeling insecure about my weight. I wish I didn't have to worry about eating and my weight, but it's become a problem now... so I guess I'm going to have to start.

I dislike weighing myself, but clearly once I start noticing a weight change I'll weigh myself and see if things have improved.

You'll learn to make amends with the scale eventually, especially when you start seeing results!

Feel free to add me if you need some motivation!

Katie, the first step is the toughest. Believe me there will always be something in the way. Life never settles down & doesn't get easier BUT if you face the challenge in front of you, life is more fun & full of wonder :) There are loads of good people on this site & I wish you strength on your journey. Good Luck & don't beat yourself up if you make some mistakes along the way, that's just the learning curve.

    Hey, I'm Melissa

I dealt with about the same thing as you are dealing with now. I'm 19 years old. At my heighest weight I weighed about 215 lbs, now 2,5 months later I lost 20 lbs and feel a bit better about my look, but I'm still not that confident about it. i think it's a good choice to join MFP. It really helped me to exercise a lot and to be under my calorie goal for most of the days.

Good luck on your journey and you can add me if you'd like ;)

Hang in there Katie. The one thing I have learned about weight is that it can always come off, and your weight is inversely proportionate to your self esteem.. This is a great system, because it will make you accountable for what you eat.

When you need something to keep you going just remember "Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels" I wish I remembered who said it on the MFP forums, its a brilliant motto.

Hang in there. Many of us have walked in your socks (hopefully you washed them first!)

One thing I suggest is to make A change in something...not everything. I don't know about you but when I thought of all the things I needed to do/not do...it was huge and overwhelming. I focused on one thing...cutting out trips to our cafeteria at work and fast food impulse eating. I looked up the food first and drove out of a few drive thru lines when I realized "OMG, I used to eat TWO of those!"

Pick something, anything...that will help you towards your goal. Make it a habit.

And good luck!! Add if you want!

    You can do it!!

Don't weigh every day. You will see daily fluctuations that vary up and down by a couple pounds or more. This is for various reasons and does not mean you are necessarily gaining back any weight. Just weigh once weekly and be consistent and true to your diet.

Don't eat garbage. If you are allowed 1500 calories in a day and you eat a burger and fries, you're done and will be starved the rest of the day. If you eat a slider and a service of baked chips, you will have plenty calories left on which to snack the rest of the day and you still got to enjoy a burger.
