I've let myself go. I'm at LEAST 60 lbs overweight, and tall .. so I don't LOOK like I weigh 225 lbs. At least that's what they tell me. When I look in the mirror, I see something (and someone) I don't recognize. I'm a realist. I know what I look like. It isn't depressing .. more like disappointing. My boys are nearly grown now, so it's time for ME to get selfish.
You see, I was an athlete. I was active. After losing my job in 2008, I lost a lot more than my income. I lost my inner cheerleader. I lost my confidence. I lost my will to keep active, to do anything. I lost me. I've since found another job .. back in familiar waters, so I'm very comfortable with the job .. but I sit all day. We have the opportunity to PT (physically train) the last hour of the day, and I've started walking with a GF of mine .. but I need to step it up. It's a LEISURELY walk .. like 2 miles in an hour. I used to walk 5 miles a day!
I quit smoking to help my lungs and how I feel overall. At my age (48), any little ailment creates fear. Fear of lung cancer .. heart disease .. diabetes .. high blood pressure. Thank goodness I don't have any of those .. yet. It's time to get healthy.
I'm looking for someone I can "vent" to .. and someone I can listen to vent. I'm looking for a motivator who won't coddle me or tell me it's "OK" if I don't feel like working out today. I don't take much personally, so don't worry about hurting my feelings. Be brutally honest. I will be. ; ) Being honest with yourself and others is the best way to get results. Results are what we're here for, right?
I'm waiting on my 10 minute workout videos (and resistance bands) from Tony Horton (P90X). I can do 10 minutes right now. I will make the time, every morning .. and the goal is .. every night, too.
I can't wait to get started and meet you all on a fitness level. Talk soon.

Feel free to vent all you want. It's sometimes nice to get things out and off your chest. Do you mind if I do the same. I am new to all this.0

Add me as a friend...I am a mom of 6, grandmother to 1 44 years old, severe asthmatic...very "no nonsense"...I work out 6 days a week, I am a runner ( doing a 1/2 marathon in 4 days!) and love to do fitness videos and classes. I will be your cheerleader but also will call you out, nicely, if need be...
Vent to me...I understand and at times I will vent back
Welcome! This is a great site....now go exercise:laugh:0
