Let see where to begin...Well I decided it was time to lose weight...again. My name is Jon, I am 25 years old and felt it was time to lose weight. I am 6'2" and weight about 330 lbs. While I dont look this big, I am definately starting to feel it, and decided it was time for a change. I do roughly about 30-40 minutes of exercise every morning before work, but am struggling with eating right. If anyone has any suggestions or words of wisdom, I am definately open to suggestions and advice.

Hi Jon, and welcome to THE best site on the web! :flowerforyou:
You look alot like my son, who's also 25! I've got a pic of him on his wedding day last month in my profile if you'd care to see it, and see what you think!
Between the easy to use food counter (which by the way is SUCH an eye opener!) and all the wonderfully supportive members, you WILL be able to lose the weight that you want to, AND, it'll "almost" be easy doing it!
I recommend logging ALL your foods BEFORE you have them, rather than later, as it tends to lead to better food choices. (not to mention you'll know if you've got enough numbers left to have a night time snack, like I ALWAYS try to do!) Some people also like to weigh and measure some things, such as meats, rather than just estimating and possibly being WAY off! :noway:
Don't go making the mistake that if you have LOTS of numbers left at the end of the day that you'll lose even faster, because that DOESN'T happen. Feel free to read any info about the site in the "help" section at the top of the home page. And also, under "all topics", then "general", and check out the first few threads. They'll really help you understand how MFP works.
Before coming here, I had tried just about EVERYTHING out there, including hypnosis, TWICE, and nothing really worked until MFP!
Also, drink LOTS of water, it REALLY DOES help! :drinker:
As for exercise, it doesn't always have to be awful. For my exercise, I walk almost every day, (weather permitting!) I also dance to a fast oldies CD that my husband made up of all my favorite old songs. (Like "Love Shack", Wild, Wild West", "Mony, Mony", "Footloose", and "Gloria")
It's free, (unlike a gym!) fun, and I can even watch tv at the same time, so I never get bored!
I also recently aquired the Wii Fit, and jog to that, which is a lot of fun, and easy too!
So, to make a LONG story short, make good food choices, eat in moderation, get some exercise, and you WILL lose the weight that you want to!

Hi, there and welcome to mFP.No one will tell you this is easy. But yes, take it easy and slow.Don't try to lose faster because then you will have that saggy skin.Go easy on it.make your exercises. And take at least 5-6 meals a day.Big breakfast, a fruit or juice or snack bar, lunch(good one), fruit ,juice or snack and supper(dinner) make it salad and meat only.Try to eat last meal three hours before retiring to bed.And if it possible and like coffee o tea, drink it hot after meals. And log everything you eat.
I did start to log everything at my first week and second week I try to lower down calories and make healthy meals.I've been losing weight and inches.I can't go to a gym nor have money to buy any equipment to use at home so I prefer doing hard work at home like mowing the lawn(my mower is a manual one you have to push it so it will work),raking it, and wash my car.Log everything..excercise too.any prob just ask.
we'll give you the support you need to go on.So jump in and let's begin.
  • Sorry it took so long to get back to all of you. Thank you very much for all of your advice and support. I can assure that all of it was useful and will hopefully have some updates soon. Best of luck to all of you and God Bless!

  • Thanks very much for your warm welcome. I think I will like it here, too. I am not a big talker, so, may not comment much, but I will be reading and looking for success tips. I have managed to lose 15 lbs. since April on my own, but need a little boost to my journey. I am hoping to find it here.
