Any Swimmers?

I'm trying to get back into swimming and am wondering if there are any other swimmers on MFP that would be interested in forming a group.
I've been swimming practically my whole life and joined a master's team last year, but quit at the end of the summer. I'm heading to the pool this evening for my second swim of the season and since I'm doing it on my own this time I would love a little accountability. My first swim on Thursday was 45 minutes, but a lot of that was break time! It always takes me a few weeks to get my stroke down again, and I welcome any tips on getting back into the swing of things.
I'm planning on alternating swimming days with the Couch to 5K running plan plus three days of three days a week of strength training. Do you do any exercise other than swimming? If so, what does your schedule look like?

I would love to do the swim challenge with you. I have a lot more weight to lose than you, but I just began swimming three days a week. What would you like to do. I have been swimming all my life too, but I was not on a team. I was a dance/baton girl and spent every waking moment with that, even though you wouldn't know it now. I'm game, just let me know...0

I would love to start swimming as both my boys are swimmers. I also want to start running. I will not be able to make swimming consistantly since my husband works away a lot of the time and have no one else to watch my 2 year old. Sounds like excuses doesnt it! but thats just life, I will commit to swimming with the adults group each Momday, wednesday and friday that my husband is in town. I'd love to join this group if its ok that I can just do what I can!:flowerforyou:0

Yay! I'm glad there are at least a couple more people interested!
I'm not sure how we should structure things. Maybe at the beginning we can just post our goals for the week and check in after our workouts? I usually track my weight on Mondays and have set my goal for a pound a week. Mondays would probably be a good day to check in and post our goals for the week. If you'd also like to incorporate some weight loss goals I'd be down for that too. I'm planning a trip to Chicago at the end of the summer (I'm leaving August 14th) and wouldn't mind having a goal to shoot for before then.
Let me know what you're thinking and we can get started right away!0 -
So this morning was my weigh-in day and I didn't even lose a full pound this week (I lost 0.8lbs)! That's a little discouraging since I've been really vigilant about what I'm eating and have started exercising more. I am definitely looking a little thinner though and am already starting to notice more muscle definition, so I know I just need to give it a little time and I'll see the difference on the scale. I also know that your body like to hold onto water when you begin exercising more intensely, so I'm hoping that my body will adjust and I'll see a bigger loss next week.
I also ate out a lot last week and even though I'm very conscious of what I'm ordering, I've been doing a lot of guessing at calorie counts. I don't like to eat at chain restaurants (for a variety of reasons I won't go into here), so it's extremely rare for the places I go to have nutritional info available. I'm planning on cooking a lot more this week to see if that makes a difference.
I'm going to give it a couple more weeks at my current calorie level (about 1500) and then if need be I'll start adjusting up or down to see what happens.
So, enough of my ranting! I did day one of C25K today and plan on swimming tomorrow. My goal this week is 3 days of C25K, 3 days of swimming and 3 days of light strength training. I'm also hoping to see a 1.5 lb loss by next Monday, which would bring me to about 184.0
