Trying very hard to kick some bad habits to the curb. Love MFP for all the info I have access to. I am doing pretty good and learning every day. However, I notice on most days I go over on my protein. Is that a bad thing?

From WebMD: Dieters. When shedding pounds sensibly, the goal is to lose body fat but maintain lean muscle mass. Protein helps you do that. Protein foods tend to be more filling, so they delay hunger, making it easier to stick with your weight-loss program. Just keep an eye on the calories and portion sizes of your protein choices when including them in meals and snacks.

I weigh just under 250 lbs. and average around 135 grams per day (MFP recommends 65 grams per day for my calorie goals). It has worked for me, keeping the snacking monsters at bay!!

Like the article says, be mindful of the calories associated with the protein and ensure they fit within your goals.

A good source of protein I have found if GNC's Promasil Protein powder. 90 cals per scoop and gets you 20 grams of protein. I buy the vanilla ice cream flavor and mix with 12 oz water....tastes pretty good and gets me to my next meal for a low cal burn.

Thanks! This is all new to me! I know about calories. I know about fat grams & fiber. The rest....I have no clue! Going to keep on keeping on!
