What should your carbs protein and fat percentages be set at for maximum fat loss? I have heard 40% protein, 40% fat, and 20 % carbs; the 40% fat seems high to me, I’m just saying. Is that because if you are not taking in carbs your body has to use the stored fat for fuel?

I've been told taht 40% carbs 40% protein and 20% fat would be a good ratio. I am using 40% carbs 35% protein and 25% fat.

Honestly, your macro ratios will not have a huge effect one way or the other. The key is to maintain a deficit. a rule of thumb that some use are set your proteins at .8 to 1 gram per lbs of lean body mass (this assumes regular workouts) and divide the rest between carbs and fats. BTW, high % of fats don't make you fat. Eating over your maintenance does. Personally, I like keeping carbs to around 30 to 35% and setting my protein as above and letting the fats fall where they may. Again, the key is maintining the deficit and setting your goals realistically so you will be motivated to comply.
