hello evreyone!
I hv a prob my nutritionist advise me nt to take any artificial low calorie sweeter but she said i can take honey and raw shakar(sugercane) but i m nt satisfied wid dis advise so plz help me out should i take low calorie sweetner or is it realy bad 4 our health i hv cum 2 knw dat by using dis it affects on our memory so share ur opinion thnx:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:

if you paid a nutritionist to give you diet advise, I would stick with what she/he says.
How about 1 week? I am going to challenge myself to 1 week no artificial sweeteners. ( I realized thsi morning I drink 2 equal, 6 sweet and lows ADAY!!!))
I am going to try just water for 1 week.

I say the nutritionist is right. I began several years ago to cut out artificial "foods" (pesticide-drenched, processed, preservative and chemical-laced, junk that comes from a test tube) and I'm *so* much healthier for it! I used to have horrible allergies that are now gone, it's extremely rare for me to get sick (even when I'm around very sick contagious people), I sleep well, and just generally feel good. If you really *need* a shot of sweet (I certainly do in my coffee in the mornings) your nutritionist gives good advice on the honey or raw sugar. Raw, local honey is especially good. But as someone trying to lose weight I totally understand not wanting to use up calories like that. Solution: Stevia. It's an herb that is naturally sweet. Wal-mart sells the mass-marketed version "truvia" which seems to be okay. Or pick up simple stevia at a health food store. It doesn't taste like sugar, but it'll do the trick in your coffee and what not. :drinker: AND it's zero calories, because it's like the "tea" of an herb. I'm actually drinking some in mine right now! :bigsmile:0

anny - I would listen to the nutritionist as well. Artificial sweetner and anything else that's artificial is not good for you. I use natural sweetners - try stevia. This week I'm going to try agave' - it's higher in calories than honey, but is sweeter so you use less (or should).
arewethereyet - good challenge! You can do it! Water is sooo good for you. The scales might appreciate the change as well.0 -

Have you tried Agave nectar? If you can use honey, then your can prob. use agave. It is delicious! I use it in place of all my sugar, even in baking.0 -
I agree with all. Artificial sweeteners "prime" your body and mind to want and seek more sweet things, but there are no calories to give you a "full" feeling. If you want sweet you need to budget for it. The whole point is to limit how much you crave and desire sweetness. In natural foods, there just isn't that much out there that is as sweet as the products man makes, this is why Americans have become so unhealthy, everything is loaded with stuff that makes the body seek out more of these triggers, sugar, fat and salt.....Read David Kessler's "The End of Overeating".....it's quite an eye opener!!0

Have you tried Stevia? It's a plant. The leaves are really sweet (50-300 times that of sugar). They have it crystalized in the brand truvia, but I grow the herb and pick off leaves to throw in my iced tea. It's really good0

no offense guy but the FDA has approved several things that have no business in our bodies....HFCS...hydroxy cut...approved then withdrawn......the FDA is not my benchmark in any sense...I would check it out...the FDA is lobby driven...it is not for our health as much as it is for business and money purposes....sad but true0 -

seriously, you can grow the plant?! WOW where can I get one??? I am trying so hard to get off the nasty sweetners, but I just cant drink tea with just lemon or lime.

...don't forget VIOXX and all those other wonderful anti-inflammatories that ended up causing heart problems (although when I was on VIOXX, I'd easily have taken the risk, since my back pain was so awful!)...0 -
natural is better for you and your body processes it correctly. Artificial sweetners are not good for you and there is a lot of research linking our ever growing waist lines to the introduction and subsequent increase in artficial sweetners into our diets.
Besides, if you don't trust the nutritionist what did you pay one for? :noway: maybe the nutritionist actually knows something and you should listen0 -

Yep, it's moleculary altered sugar. *Everything* has some kind of roots in nature... but once they start pulling out oxygen molecules and other such craziness.... I believe I would call it artificial.0
