Has anyone read this? I picked it up the other day and find some of the tips a little contrary to what has been driven into me about healthy weight loss. E.G., skipping breakfast, avoiding your first meal of the day until lunchtime AT LEAST, learning how to ignore hunger.... I would love to hear from anyone with an opinion on the book.. Im a little apprehensive..

I've read the book and it makes sense from a purely logical and scientific perspective. The explanations he gives for his suggestions like the cold bath first thing in the morning (to force the body to generate heat by burning fat since it has run out of energy stores over night) followed by a cup of coffee without milk or sugar (because coffee stimulates the process of converting fat to energy, and avoiding milk or sugar to prevent the body from recognizing an intake of food, which then stops all fat burning and switches back to fat storage), followed by a short morning workout to further burn fat. Skipping breakfast forces the body to continue depending on using up it's stores of fat rather than store it.

Breakfast is a great meal if you want to maintain your weight as it is, and cut down on lunch and dinner because the body has the rest of the day to burn it all up. But if you want to purely burn fat, skipping breakfast until lunch makes sense logically because it forces the body to burn as much fat as it requires to power your body until then. Setting this routine also tells the body that it's not going to be on starvation mode to save fat, especially if you include it in your diet as the book suggests. It's the carbs you should avoid.

    Total load of tosh.

Do you need to eat breakfast to lose weight and 'kick start' your metabolism? No. The main thing that matters is total calories in. Not when you eat them. A pitot people require breakfast but some don't.

And why would you ignore hunger? What does it achieve? (and I'm talking about true hunger not thirst that we often mistake for hunger) If your body is hungry FEED it. Eat a healthy amount of calories, with nutrient rich foods.

And I've burnt plenty of fat eating breakfast every day. Omg!
