Apples, bananas, grapes, strawberries, baby carrots, celery, lettuce, grape tomatoes, dried mango... the list is endless as far as fruits and vegetables are concerned. Go crazy with them! I also really love steamfresh bags for dinner and snacks because you just microwave a whole bag of whatever vegetable you want and it's done in like 7 minutes. Try frozen broccoli, corn, peas, asparagus, brussels sprouts, cauliflower, or carrots.
In terms of dairy, go for 1% or skim milk and low-fat yogurt (I like greek yogurt for the protein). I also like almond milk. Buy unsalted nuts and whatever you see that's whole-grain and looks good. Oatmeal is good for you, but try to avoid over-processed foods. Whole-grain pasta and breads are better than their white counterparts.
For dinner try to stick to lean meats. Chicken, turkey, and fish are all good options. Eat pork and beef sparingly because they're higher in sodium and saturated fats. And if you're getting ground beef, pick up the 98% lean (I think that's the leanest? Can't remember).
Everything is good in moderation, just pay attention to labels and take the time to comparison shop. Good luck.0 -
