I am fairly new here, only been a couple weeks, and was just wondering how or why a topic gets a little lock beside it, and what exactly that means.....

Also, when someone quotes you and writes "THIS" under it, I am assuming they agree with you? In all the messages boards I have joined over the years, I have never seen that....

When a topic gets a lock beside it, that means only VIP members are allowed to respond.

When people write "This^" It's a way of notifying the mod's that they would like to nominate this person to become a VIP MFP member.

Not sure about the VIP thing stated below but that means no more discussion is allowed on the topic - because for some reason it is locked (either too full and bounced over to a part two) or it had a controversial topic that violated the MFP rules.

And when people say THIS they basically mean "this is what I wanted to say."
