Liquid diet?

Hi, I'm thinking about going on a liquid diet for 7-14 days for detox and weight loss. Has anybody tried this? Any advice on how to start or what to avoid. I'm still looking online for ideas. Any help??
Let me add: I work out 3-5 days per week doing cardio and strength training. I saw a movie called "Food Matters" and it spoke of the pros of juicing your foods and being much healthier than cooking our fruits/veggies. I'm not just being lazy and trying a diet fad

No and I won't. Just because I feel my body needs food, good, normal food:) Besides, when a person tries to lose weight that way the body will go into emergency mode and eat up lean, muscle mass before it even touches the fat. Just heard that but after reading all the material on it made a believer out of me:) I have also lost weight and inches and by exercising I actually had to eat more food to lose the weight, go figure!0

Unless your doctor recommends it for medical reasons, there's no reason to go on a liquid diet. And the whole detoxing thing is hocus. Your body detoxes itself naturally.0

If i was considering a liquid diet I would probably look up some green smoothie recipes.....0

Might want to invest in a wheelchair and someone to push you around.
What exactly are you trying to detox from?0 -
If you want to 'detox' I would try drinking a TON of water and eating clean. Nothing out of a package. I promise you will feel like a million bucks. Liquid detox diets are crap in my opinion. They just set people up to fail. Good luck!0

Liquid diet sounds unhealthy...starving yourself for more than a week? No thanks.0

my advice is to eat food along with the liquid.0

A liquid diet is okay for a day or two, just to restart (but its still not scientifically proven to be effective), but any more than that and you are doing more harm than good.0 -
chachadiva150, Thank you!0

No, I did do nothing but fruit once many years ago, I did it for a full week as an experiment to see what would happen. The result was a 14lbs loss in one week, however, it went straight back on once I went back to solid food.0 -
They just had a big news report about how these liquid diets and juice diets do nothing but throw your blood sugar way out of wack. Personally I like chewing and the feeling of food in the tummy.0

Might have been just a coincident, but I thought detoxing was a good idea. Within a week of completing the program I developed appendicitis and it ruptured. It was my fault it ruptured, I thought I had the stomach flu, but I will always wonder about the timing of the detox and the appendicitis attach.
Just my experience.0 -

Very interesting Thank you!0 -
I wouldn't bother -- there's no reason you'd want to take all of the healthy fiber out of your fruits and vegetables!!
I've done fasts before and they have never done me any good.
If you want to "detox", take toxins out of your diet (eat healthy, organic food). Your body is always detoxing itself naturally. If you want something to give you an extra boost, eat organic dandelion greens (or juice them and drink them), which are healthy for your liver!0
