Knee Issues? Help!

I'm training for my first half marathon, on May 5, and I've been following my training plan with good progress. Today was a scheduled CT/Strength Training day. I started doing 30DS on level 2, but about 20 minutes in, while bending down to a squat my right knee felt weird, like a tightness when I was bending it. I stopped immediately, but I am paranoid. Do I ice it? Do I use heat it?
I've never had knee issues before (but I've never been a runner either).
It isn't painful in a bent or straight position, but that weird tight pulling sensation occurs when I bend. This leads me to believe it isn't serious enough to call the doctor.
Help? Thoughts?

I have had a sensitive knee for years and I am a runner. I don't like to do squats just to be on the safe side, but I do utilize weight machines that target the hamstrings and quads like the leg extension or the sitting leg press. My doctor and a trainer says these exercises will help strengthen the knee naturally. I always have iced my knee after longer runs just to prevent any inflammation(not that I have any). If you are unsure of what you are feeling, I would still check with your doctor to get an opinion.0
