Water Consumption

Hi, possibly a silly question but are the '8 cups of water' pints or half pints or another measurement?
I struggle to drink alot of anything really, but i drink water out of a half pint glass as i find it easier to drink it all and fill it back up quicker than if i have a pint glass, no idea why must be psycological =/

I go by ounces since I usually drink my water in a 16 ounce bottle which equals 2 cups.
