My husband has been out of work since April (really december but was able to work tax season part time). We finally got the call that he got his dream job working for the IRS. The problem is that he does not start until June 22nd. Not sure when that first paycheck will come in. Here is where I need help, we have five people in our house (us and three kiddos) and money is running VERY low. What can I buy healthy and cheap? We have been sticking to a clean diet for the most part so we eat LOTS of veggies and fruit but that gets expensive. Any thoughts? We need to make it about a month I would say before I wont have to worry anymore.

Some things I do to keep costs down are
    1) Buying ground meat -- lean beef, pork and chicken
    2) Buying reduced meat and then eating it right away or freezing it
    3) Fruit and produce in season
    4) Frozen veggies
    5) Reduced bread
    6) Rice and pasta are cheap and good in moderation, especially if you load up on the veggies
    7) Eggs are also fairly inexpensive and can be used to make a variety of fun healthy meals
    8) Canned fruit (in juices or water not syrup)
    9) Soup
