Plateau, eh?

So I've been dieting for over a year now, most of my success was in the beginning where i finally dropped down to 150 from 179. I felt great, but when I hit 150 I haven't seem to get under it since then. It's been a few months of going up and down from 150-157 and I can't seem to get under it. Most days I do eat 1200+ but maybe it's because it's not always super healthy options? I try to exercise as best as I can but I'm still not able to get under this 150 mark. Someone had said I hit something like a plateau - which I've never heard of. Should I be eating MORE? Seems scary to me .. lol

My wife had a simaliar problem as well. We had to increase her calories some. If you are on a 500 deficit a day, why would it hurt to bump it up say 200 calories for a few weeks and see what happens?

Great job with loosing what you have already.
I can't see your diary but I'd suggest looking at what you are eating. Are your fat and sugars under the recommended values?

I have heard that upping your calories a bit for a few weeks will help. You only want to up your calories by 300 or so (just enough to maintain your current weight). Stick with this "maintinence" for a little while. Then reduce your calories again. A plateau is when your body is too used to what its been doing (low calorie). Get it used to higher calories again and when you go back down it should shock your body into losing more weight. Different workouts may help also! Add weight training?

Thanks all! My sister in law is a dietician and she said to start using weighs. Apparently the more muscle mass you gain the more calories you burn! Looks like I'm gonna beef up hahah thanks again!
