hey I'm pretty new on here so just trying to get out there and figure some new stuff out. But are there any good easy to learn yoga and stretching techniques that people do. I currently do a lot of weight training and high intensity interval training for cardio as well as some long medium and easy paced runs. I'm just looking to gain flexibility and not be so sore from lifting heavy after one week.

I do a good, 90 minute hot yoga class once a week just to give my muscles some much needed TLC after all my running, HIIT, and strength training. I love it! It's also helped me regulate my breath better during cardio exercises, and helps to alleviate soreness and joint pain. I can not sing the praises of yoga enough!

I'd get a good yoga dvd to try at home (a hatha based practice would be good for a beginner/somebody just looking to get some stetching and flexibility going) or if you have access to a yoga studio/gym with yoga classes, try a beginner hatha class. I love it! Hot yoga is my favorite though because the heat allows you to work deeper into your muscles, and you work up quite the sweat. My heart rate goes way up during those classes, so not only am I getting the stretching/flexibility benefits, but I'm burning some calories while I'm at it :)
