Don't know if this has been asked before, but on a bit of a different note here it is:

I input my breakfast, lunch, and snacks first thing in the morning before my workout and before my day even starts. So, with that said, I put all my information in and I have 210 cals left for the day (no big deal cause I still have my workout to do) my question is after my workout I am going to have between 700-1000 calories available to eat for dinner, however I have pretty much met my mac goals for the day, so what to do? Thanks for any and all input!

Plan differently. Put in a preliminary dinner at the beginning of the day so you can at least forecast your baseline calories and macros. Then use the extra exercise calories to fill in any gaps. If you are concerned about going over, you can always alter the last meal some.

Your macro goals are a percentage of total calories. If your calorie goal setting is 1500/day and you only eat 1500/day then hopefully your macro goals are on target. If however, you eat 2000 calories and your calorie goal is still set at 1500/day, then what you actually ate will result in different calorie/gram amount.

Lets say your marco ratio setting is 40/40/20 and your goal setting is 1500/day

    .........................................Carbs.....Protein.....Fat.....Totals
    Calories per gram...........4................4............9
    Macro ratios....................40%..........40%......20%.....100%
    Calories ..........................600...........600.......300.......1,500
    Grams.............................150...........150.........33

Now lets say you are actually eating 2000/day but your settings remain unchanged

    .........................................Carbs.....Protein.....Fat.....Totals
    Calories per gram...........4................4............9
    Macro ratios....................40%..........40%......20%.....100%
    Calories ..........................800...........800.......400.......2,000
    Grams.............................200...........200.........44

I get what you're saying, if I eat 1000 calories or 5000 calories 40% is still 40%, so maybe this is a MFP issue then that someone can help me with. I have it set right now at 35%, 35%, 30%...protein, carbs, fat. MFP sets a number goal as well for example right now it says...Protein-115, Carbs-115, and fat- 44. I guess what I am asking is if I eat say 500 more calories will that change the number to stay within the %???

Yep, your macro counts for the day change automatically when you add your exercise calories

I am new to mfp and to macro settings. I am learning a lot from all of you here at mfp.

In addition to the original post, my questions are (1) how do I decide what macro settings are good for me, and (2) how do I change the current mfp macro settings because they sure are not 40/40/20!!

I found my answer! I just did a search for "macro settings" and found the following (in case anybody else needs this info.):

Go to Goals -> click on Change Goals at the bottom of the page -> select Custom -> click on Continue. Make your changes and then click on Save. :)

Yes, as you add more food the % changes.
The pie chart on the phone app is great for this.
