Tight painful calf muscles

I just started working out again over the past couple of weeks. I'm starting slow so I'm doing the stationary bike, elliptical, treadmill. Also walking more instead of taking my car everywhere. And I felt fine up until yesterday. I did a 15 minute brisk walk from the store to my house and my calf muscles got so tight they felt like they were going to explode. I got home drank some water. I heard that if you're not hydrated enough this could happen. Then today I walked to Subway for lunch which is like a 5 minute walk up an incline. By the time I got there I was in major pain again. My calf muscles are like rocks. I normally have pretty tight muscles in my calves. I always have. It's just by body type. But this is totally diffrerent. This is painful. What could be causing this and what can I do to alleviate the problem? :frown:
