Hi, I'm trying to figure out what exactly is up with my knee. Its my "bad" knee, it had been injured in a bicycle accident about 6 years ago, but has been fine for the past 2-3 years.
A couple saturdays ago, I climbed up on the couch to close the curtains in my daughters room. When I was climbing down I had my left knee bent and bearing the majority of my weight while slowly lowering my body to "feel" my other foot to the floor. I felt a kind of "snapping" near the top toward the outside of my knee. My knee gave and was a little sore, but the next day felt normal. Until I tried to go down stairs or up stairs, placing that knee it a similar bent position and bearing weight trying to straighten to go up or down the stairs.
It seems everytime I do a similar movement, I keep reinjuring it. Its not the same snapping sensation but it is a sharp pain and my knee gets weak.
I can walk normally with no pain and it doesn't bother me at all, there is no swelling or bruising of every kind.
What does it sound like I injured. It does get better if I keep my leg straight for a few days but it seems as soon as I go up a couple of steps, bam, pain again.
I have been contemplating going to the docs but the pain isn't unbearable, mostly annoying. I don't really want to go to the docs right now, mainly because of x-rays, i'm 16 weeks pregnant and don't want to expose my baby to those things. I also want to save my days off since I don't have many for maternity leave later this year.

I am not a doctor... You should probably have one examine you.

There is a saying that "a stitch in time saves nine" - I really think you should go to the doctor or at least see a physiotherapist, particularly since you will be putting a lot more weight on that knee as your pregnancy progresses.

Find out what is wrong now and take care of it. Relying on a diagnosis via the internet is not a good idea. The last thing you want to happen is for your knee to give out when your pregnancy is more advanced.
