Working out with Fibromyalgia

I have had this for years. But never really fully accepted my restrictions. The other day I did. I walked about 2 miles at a leasurlie and 2 hrs after was in extreme pain. Walking really? I can do Yoga, Zumba, strength training, stretching but walking doesn't agree with me. Any other ideas of how to get in some simple quick cardio in other than walking? Should I just tough it out?
Thanks

Do you like swimming? My mom has fibromyalgia and it seems to help her. Also yoga (although that's not cardio and I know you were asking about good cardio exercises).0

Thanks for posting these links! I have fibro too, and it can be really depressing trying to exercise with it.0

Walking hurts my wife's Fibro too. Not sure why. She's okay with strength training but take her for a walk round the block and she ends up in pain. Maybe try a zero-impact machine like an elliptical. Otherwise maybe try jumping between several different machines while keeping your heart rate up (5 mins on the treadmill, 5 on the elliptical, 5 on the stairs etc.)... I suggest this because prolonged repetitive motion definitely seems to play a role in flare ups.0

Hi!!! I have Fibro to. I got diagnosed at 14yrs and I'm now 32yrs. I've been big all my life and I've come to find that one cannot simply be thin, one must be fit and that's the best medicine for Fibromyalgia.
I started out like you, on the treadmill, but with extreme pain. I would tough it out because I knew it'd get better. I moved to yoga, Wii exercises, pilates, and such. Now 68lbs lighter I'm proud to say I do workouts like P90X!!
My point is no matter what, it's going to hurt, hurt really really bad some days. BUT it gets better, hurts less frequently, the Fibro pain starts to go away for the majority of your days.
Stick it out or work up to it but keep pushing yourself, your going to feel ( and look) amazing!!!
Good luck everyone on your fitness journey!!0
