Unless you're rather short (like 5 foot or shorter), yes.

Seeing that you're just starting to lose weight, I'd think that under 1200 would be a bad idea, but maybe you should speak to someone who can professionally assess that.

Do you have medical insurance? I would suggest seeing a registered dietitian to maybe get your metabolism tested. The 1200 minimum is so one's health doesn't become in jeopardy, but there's the very rare exception to it.

Some things you can do yourself however is figure out your basal metabolic rate (BMR). It only requires height, weight, and age.

Thanks. I am eating much better and after I exercise my net is always under 1200. Do i need to eat more on the days I exercise to try and keep my net calories correct?

Net more than your BMR, but less than your TDEE.

for 1 you want to figure up your TDEE (im sure some one will post the link )
im sure this will help .. go here http://tinyurl.com/ccpt2wa (mfp post) and go to page 1

then you would subtract up to 20% from that ..

your bmr is what you need to survive if you laid in bed all day and never moved (coma_

We set your nutritional target in Net Calories which we define as:

Calories Consumed (Food) - Calories Burned (Exercise) = Net Calories

What that means is that if you exercise, you will be able to eat more for that day. For example, if your Net Calorie goal is 2000 calories, one way to meet that goal is to eat 2,500 calories of food, but then burn 500 calories through exercise.

Think of your Net Calories like a daily budget of calories to spend. You spend them by eating, and you earn more calories to eat by exercising.

Thanks for the help. I was really under the impression that I should just eat 1200 calories even with exercise. This really helped me.
